Prague is an amazingly functional city after coming from Baltimore. There is great public transportation, both a metro and trams. There are an amazing number of pubs, cafes, and stores of all kinds that all seem to be doing good bussiness. The streets are very clean and as far as crime all you have to worry about is pick pockets. It is very walkable because you know you arn't going to end up in an unsafe area.
